Student or Graduate of an accredited, or those in the candidacy process, associate, or diploma nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification. This role is NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role. The RN possesses excellent communication skills is skillful in mentoring and teaching and may participate on committees or projects. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and adequacy of resources. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic, regardless of experience, will receive an extensive orientation program. A separate application or enrollment process is not required. The IV Transfusion Service nurses are a resource for the Department of Nursing related to care and troubleshooting of all peripheral and central access catheters.įor new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience, hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. The IV Transfusion Service nurses perform routine and emergency blood transfusions, patient assessment for adverse transfusion reaction, intracatheter instillation of medication for restoration of central venous catheter patency, access and deaccess implanted vascular access devices, insertion of peripheral and central (PICC) intravenous catheters, perform routine and as needed PICC site cares, insertion of Midline intravenous catheters, perform routine and as needed Midline site cares and therapeutic phlebotomies. Nursing Team Roles: The IV Transfusion Service performs the placement of routine and emergency peripheral IV’s for patients of all ages. The IV Transfusion Service cares for patients of all ages. Patient Care Type: The IV Transfusion Service, a blood administration and vascular access team consisting of RNs and IV technicians, provides coverage 24 hours per day in the hospital inpatient settings at RMC and SMC, as well as many outpatient areas.
